Fly Fishing the Green River
Carl "Boomer" Stout has been in the fly fishing industry for over 27 years. He started guiding in Colorado in 1984 and went from there
to guiding in Alaska at Katmai Lodge for 4 years. He got started writing articles with the late Bill Logan, outdoor sportswriter for the Rocky Mountain News in the 80's. He has also done articles with other writers for magazines such as Flyfisherman.
After becoming a member of the G. Loomis Rod Co., Carl made many appearances in the International Sportsman's Expo Shows in the Master
Tying Theater and also as a casting instructor/demonstrator. This has led to appearances on shows on TV such as the Outdoorsman.
Carl is well known in the industry as a fly designer, designing many popular and successful flies for Alaska and the Green River. He is now currently a Royalty Fly designer for Umpqua and spends part of the off season instructing classes in the art of tying the Classic Full Dress Featherwing Atlantic Salmon Flies.
Carl started working for Denny Breer (Trout Creek Flies) on the Green in 1990 where he became Head Guide and has loved being on the Green River ever since. After Denny passed asway in 2008, he helped out Grace Breer by creating a power point presentation to promote the Green River and Trout Creek Flies / Green River Outfitters.
