The
Count down has started for SDFF's biggest event of the year!
Our annual fundraiser/raffle is how the Club raises virtually all
its funds to support various conservation and fishing programs that
benefit not only us, but also the whole fishing community in San
Diego and California.
This year's Grand Prize is a hand
crafted split cane rod with a matching reel and line valued at over
$1000! There
will be over
seventy prizes,
including premium fly rods from Diamond Back, Thomas and Thomas, St.
Croix and others. Top-of-the-line fly reels from Bauer, Ross, and
Reddington. Quality fly tying vises from Regal and Renzetti, plus
fly tying tools and materials, float tubes, fly fishing apparel,
local
restaurant gift certificates
and much, much more.
We
will also be conducting a silent auction, that will include many
highly discounted trips to prime local and non-local fishing
destinations, plus first-class, rods, reels, and beautiful flies hand
made by well know fly tyers. Auction
participants must be present in
person or through an approved proxy
to bid and winners must pay the winning bid that night.
Tickets
are $5 each or $25 for a book of six.
Tickets may also be purchased at Stroud's Tackle, at the Lake
Murray Club casting clinic on Sunday mornings, and the night of the
fundraiser. Tickets
may also be purchased through the mail by sending your check made out
to San Diego Fly Fishers and referencing the annual raffle, to:
Stroud Tackle, 1457 Morena Blvd., San Diego, CA 92110.
Please include your name and phone number for the raffle tickets.
Except
for the Grand Prize, participants need not be Club members or be
present at the fundraiser to win, but
must claim their prizes at one of the subsequent Club meetings held
on August 4th
or Septermber 8th.
To win the Grand Prize participants must be present at the
fundraiser and must be a Club member before the raffle starts.
This
year will mark the debut of Lee McElravy as the Master of Ceremonies.
Bill Stroud will be there to cheer on the winners.
Over
the years the net proceeds from the fundraiser have gone to provide
financial support to organizations like San Diego Trout, the San
Diego River Foundation, Cal Trout and the Chula Vista Nature Center,
Lake Chollas youth fishing programs, the restoration of San Mateo
Creek and the Sea World/Hubbs Steelhead studies.
The
Club is accepting donations of good quality gear (new and used), gift
certificates purchased at Stroud's Tackle or other fishing shops,
and cash donations to purchase items to include in the raffle. If
you would like to make a donation contact Larry Sorensen or Jon Hee
by May 30th. You may also drop off donations at Stroud's Tackle at
1457 Morena Blvd.
Here
is your chance to win some fantastic fly fishing gear and, at the
same time, contribute to some very worthy causes. Come join us at
7:30 pm on Monday June 2nd
at Sequoia Elementary School for all the fun. To find the location, click here.
